Venice Airport to Cortina transfer: how it works
A private transfer from Venice Airport to Cortina d’Ampezzo is the simplest way to start a Dolomites holiday: your chauffeur meets you in the arrivals hall at Marco Polo with a name sign, helps with skis and suitcases, and drives you door to door to your hotel, chalet or apartment in Cortina. No queues, no changes, no luggage limits beyond the space in the vehicle. We track your flight, so a late landing simply moves your pickup time. Send your flight number, arrival date, passenger count and full accommodation address in Cortina. Elite Private Transfer uses these details to prepare a written quote and agree your pickup arrangements before the journey is confirmed.
How long does it take from Venice Airport to Cortina?
The journey is approximately 150 km and takes about 2 hours in normal conditions, with the Tofane and Cristallo peaks coming into view as you reach the Ampezzo valley. Your chauffeur chooses the route according to season, weather and traffic. On winter Saturdays and during peak holiday weeks allow 2½ hours; we plan the pickup time around your flight and let you know the estimated schedule for your travel date rather than promising a fixed arrival.
Winter transfers: snow, skis and timing
In winter the V-Class is fitted with winter tyres and carries chains as required by Italian law on mountain roads, so the transfer runs in snow as well. There is room for skis, snowboards and boot bags alongside up to ten suitcases; tell us how many sets you bring so we can confirm the fit. If you land in the late afternoon, you will reach Cortina after dark: your chauffeur knows the road and the hotel approaches, including addresses in Pocol, Alverà and the upper hamlets that are awkward to reach without a car.
Summer and the Cortina area
From June to September the same transfer takes you to Cortina for hiking, cycling and the passes. Your chauffeur can also drop you at accommodation in San Vito di Cadore, Borca, Misurina, Auronzo on request, or combine the journey with a short stop in Belluno or along the Piave. If you are staying in Cortina and want to explore the Dolomites without driving, see our private tours from Venice or a chauffeur at disposal for the day.
Passengers, luggage and child seats
The Mercedes-Benz V-Class carries up to seven passengers and a maximum of ten suitcases. For larger groups we coordinate two or more vehicles leaving together from the airport. Child seats and boosters are available on request: include the children’s ages in your enquiry. Travelling from Treviso Airport instead? The transfer to Cortina takes about 1 h 45.
Returning to Venice Airport
Request both directions together and we will plan the return pickup around your departure time, allowing for luggage drop and security at Marco Polo. Waiting time and cancellation arrangements follow the terms confirmed for your booking, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before the transfer. Staying elsewhere in the mountains? About 2 hours for roughly 150 km. On winter Saturdays and in peak weeks allow up to 2½ hours. We confirm an estimated schedule for your travel date when you book.
Where will I meet the driver at Venice Airport?
Your chauffeur welcomes you with a name sign as part of our meet & greet service. The exact meeting point and contact details are agreed before your journey. Provide your flight number and a phone number with country code so we can reach you.
What if my flight is delayed?
We monitor the flight details you provide whenever reasonably possible and adjust pickup to the actual landing time. Your airport transfer includes 60 minutes of waiting from actual landing. After that, additional waiting costs €50 per hour, calculated proportionally. Contact your chauffeur if baggage collection or airport procedures delay you further.
Does the transfer run in snow?
Yes. In winter the Mercedes-Benz V-Class is fitted with winter tyres and carries chains as required on mountain roads. Your chauffeur drives the Venice–Cortina road regularly and adjusts the route and timing to conditions.
Can we stop on the way to Cortina?
Yes. A short stop for a coffee, a supermarket or a viewpoint can be added on request; longer stops or a detour, for example to Belluno or Lake Misurina, are quoted as a chauffeur at disposal. Mention it in your enquiry so we plan the time.
Can you collect us in Venice instead of at the airport?
Yes, request an agreed road-accessible pickup point and specify your starting address. Transfers from historic Venice may require a separate walking or water connection before the car journey.
